Horizontal Systems Bought by Autodesk Inc.

Horizontal Systems, co-founded by CEO Jordan Brandt (DDes ’08) and VP Ivan Panushev (DDes ’08) was purchased by Autodesk Inc. for cloud-based computing and modeling software. Based in New York, Horizontal Systems provides Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs, which will be incorporated into Autodesk’s 360 program, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Autodesk 360 for BIM will contribute to collaborative work and data and lifecycle management, allowing users to access and coordinate multi-discipline project data remotely and over the duration of the project. Autodesk Vice President Jim Lynch, Architecture, Engineering and Construction Solutions, says, “The integration of Horizontal Systems technology with other Autodesk BIM solutions will streamline business processes and workflows for increased efficiency, improved profitability, and higher quality outcomes for both Autodesk and Horizontal Systems customers,” reports Yahoo! Finance. The programming allows architects, engineers, owners and builders to collaborate in over 40 different 3D formats, while supporting distributed BIM data into external business systems.

“Autodesk has long been a valued business partner, sharing our dedication to advancing BIM across multi-discipline teams, workflows, and projects,” said Jordan Brandt, CEO and Co-founder at Horizontal Systems. “Our customers will experience the benefit of ‘gluing’ together Horizontal Systems’ cloud technology with the comprehensive portfolio of Autodesk BIM software. The Autodesk 360 for BIM vision is a perfect fit for our customers, as this integrated and flexible strategy makes it easier than ever for everyone to collaborate.”
