Book advocate Designers and Books publishes Professor Jorge Silvetti’s book list, comprised of 17 titles. Professor Silvetti, the Nelson Robinson Jr. Professor of Architecture said about the titles he selected, “They have indelibly shaped my understanding of the world, of people and what they do and make and why, and as such they have shaped the way I think and perceive.” The titles selected were read over decades, some of which being from Professor Silvetti’s time as a teenager in Argentina. The list’s breath includes literary classics such as Jorge Luis Borges’ Ficciones and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Luis Buñuel’s autobiography My last sight, and travel diaries as Claude Leví-Strauss’ Tristes Tropiques and Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s Travels in Italy.
