Audi Urban Future Award goes to Jose Castillo and team

As part of their initiative to fuse traffic planning and technology, Audi has awarded four teams in four cities with the Audi Urban Future Award. In recognition for their innovative app for congestion, Audi has named Jose Castillo, design critic in urban planning and design (MArch ’95, DDes ’00), and his team the winner in Mexico City.

Castillo and his team have developed crowd-sourcing techniques that seek to inform urban planning decisions to aid the problem of traffic congestion in a city under perpetual traffic duress. Data submitted by commuters, as well as companies, mobility providers, and municipal institutions, create a database from which large-scale planning initiatives can grow and commuters can make better-informed and flexible commute decisions.
