Wang and Peiser examine design and development of global “Prestige Retail”

The book Prestige Retail: Design and Development Perspectives on the High-End, Luxury Goods Market, coedited by Bing Wang, associate professor in Practice of Real Estate and the Built Environment, and Richard Peiser, Michael D. Spear Professor of Real Estate Development, focuses on the dynamic evolution of spatial morphologies and cycles of market economics within physical and digital retail typological landscapes. This publication and its ongoing research critically document and analyze both historical and contemporary trajectories of retail forms and development strategies in the West and East, and project their future impact on urban form, design of retail architecture, and lifestyle and investment scenarios in the context of globalization. In this book, Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor Peter G. Rowe also contributed an article assessing the “contours and colorations” of urban retail architectural geographies in diffident cities throughout the world.

On April 21, 2015, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), headquartered in New York City, will organize and present a panel discussion featuring the publication of this book at its 40th Anniversary European Conference in London.
