Application Deadlines
Application forms for the Fellowship year beginning August 2012 are due Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Please read the instructions carefully and feel free to contact the Fellowship office with any questions you may have about the application process.

Application Process
All candidates are required to submit an application form and three letters of recommendation. The submission of a portfolio of work is optional, though strongly encouraged for those whose work has a visual quality.

1. Application Form: Please review the instructions and answer the questions included, taking notice of the suggested length for answers. Feel free to use separate papers

2. Letters of Recommendations:  Please submit three letters of recommendation from professional associates. Letters from people who are personally familiar with your work will carry the most weight.Be sure to sign the confidentiality statement and forward the recommendation form to your references. We strongly prefer that the letters be returned to you in a sealed, signed envelope and be submitted with your full application. In very unusual circumstances, letters may be sent directly to the Loeb Fellowship office.

3. Portfolio and/or Supplemental Materials: Applicants are encouraged to submit a portfolio of not more than four examples of their work. This is particularly important for practitioners whose work has a visual quality, though others may wish to submit articles, books, plans, speeches, or similar indicators of their work.

Reapplication Process
If you are reapplying from the previous year, you must complete a new application. You do not need to send new letters of recommendation, though you may add one additional letter. You should re-submit your portfolio, adding one new project if you like. If it has been more than one year since you last applied, you should send an entirely new application, including new letters of recommendation and a new portfolio.

Selection Process
A selection committee composed of three faculty members from the GSD, three alumni/ae of the Loeb Fellowship, two outside practitioners and the Curator of the program will review all application and select approximately 20 Finalists for the Fellowship toward the end of February. Each finalist will be interviewed by the Curator, one other practitioner with knowledge of the program and one other member of the selection committee. The committee will meet again in early April and select nine to ten candidates for the next Class of Fellows.

The application process for the Loeb Fellowship is highly competitive. Many very qualified applicants are rejected each year. As a result, the Fellowship encourages strong candidates to reapply in future years.
