TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP PROCESS
There is no one process for applying for a teaching assistantship. If you are looking for a teaching assistantship opportunity, there are several approaches:
Send your curriculum vitae and design portfolio as electronic attachments to the program coordinator, Margaret Meaney (mmeaney[at]gsd.harvard.edu). Please note in your email whether you are eligible for work-study or an international employment award. We keep these on file and send them out to instructors who request to view them. We do not make recommendations to instructors but may select cvs based on specific qualifications in accord with the criteria requested by the instructor (e.g. language or computer software skills).
Contact an instructor to make a direct inquiry about the possibility of teaching assistantship opportunity. You may want to vet this through the department first. We may for example know if that instructor has already made arrangements.
Instructors may provide the department with a job description for a teaching assistant position. We send these out as email announcements.
If you are looking to TA for a traveling studio option, your eligibility is contingent on either:
Eligibility to enroll in a studio option
Or the TA responsibilities do not include studio travel
Please note that the Architecture Department does not play a role in the allocation of teaching assistantship slots but does assist in the coordination.
