Guidelines for Instructors

Add/Drop Procedures

Students may add or drop courses throughout the term according to the academic calendar. Students may add courses by filling out an add/drop petition (available in the Office of Student Services, Room 422) with the instructor's signature. An instructor's signature is not necessary when students drop courses. Generally, students may not add courses after the official add/drop deadline, usually four weeks after classes have started unless the course was inadvertently left off of the study card. Students may withdraw from a course after the add/drop deadline and may do so until the last day that the course meets; however a permanent notation of WD is made on a student's transcript when he or she withdraws from a course after the deadline.

Students are not allowed to drop option studios. Any requests to do so must be discussed with the program director. If a student wishes to drop a core studio, he or she must have the approval and signatures of the instructor, the advisor and the program director.
