MDesS Real Estate

The Master in Design Studies degree program is a mid-career postprofessional intensive course for those individuals who seek to expand their knowledge and to advance their professional careers.

In the MDesS program, students have the opportunity to study recent developments in their fields resulting from advances in information technology, finance, new theories and methods, and historical discoveries and associations. The program currently offers five areas of study, including Real Estate and Urban Development, described below. Students explore their interests through course work, independent study, or an optional independent thesis rather than through design studio courses.

Concentration in Real Estate and Urban Development

This area prepares graduates for careers in real estate development, finance and other private and public sector positions in urban development. It emphasizes analytical skills, decision-making, development processes, political, environmental, legal, and general urban context knowledge. This program is intended for professionals with design, real estate, and public sector backgrounds who want to expand their understanding of real estate and urban development in order to enhance their future professional work.
