FELLOWSHIPS, PRIZES & TRAVEL PROGRAMS
Over the years, numerous donors have established endowed awards and traveling fellowships at Harvard University and at the Graduate School of Design.
The following prizes are administered by the Department of Urban Planning and Design of the Graduate School of Design.
Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design
This prize was established in 1986 on the occasion of the celebration
of Harvards 350th and the GSDs 50th anniversaries and to
mark the visit of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, to Harvard
and the GSD. The award is made periodically by the Design
School for an urban design project larger in scope than a single building,
constructed anywhere in the world during the previous ten years. Award-winning
projects are selected because they make a positive and substantial contribution
to the public realm of a city, improve the quality of urban life, and
demonstrate a humane and worthwhile direction for the design of urban
environments.
Prizes and awards presented annually to enrolled students include:
Charles Abrams Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a student in a graduate planning
program at Columbia, Harvard, MIT, the New School for Social Research,
or the University of Pennsylvania by the American Planning Association.
Students are nominated by urban planning faculty.

Established in 1986 by Ronald M. Druker, Loeb Fellow 76, and by
the Trustees of the Bertram A. Druker Charitable Foundation, this fellowship
is open to all students at the GSD who demonstrate excellence
in the design of urban environments. The fellowship offers students

that advances
understanding of urban design.
