International Employment Award

The International Employment Award is a program that makes it easier for international students to find part-time employment while they are enrolled at the GSD. It is similar to the Federal Work-Study Program. This award is paid out in the form of paychecks as the student works.

For the 2009-2010 academic year, students will no longer be able to apply for increases to their fall allotment. Students will have to wait until the spring semester to see if additional funds are available at that time. In early February, an email announcement will be sent to international students regarding the status.

All international students who choose to work while attending the GSD should be sure they are in compliance with the work restrictions on their I-20. Students without IEA funding may work as long as the employer is able to pay them without the use of the IEA.

Students who are awarded money from the IEA will receive an email from the Financial Aid Office confirming their award and the amount. Once the student receives that confirmation and is ready to start working, they should stop by the Financial Aid Office in Gund 422 to obtain a IEA referral card. That card must be completed and turned in to the payroll coordinator in order to process your payroll.
