International Employment Award
The International Employment Award is similar to the Federal Work-Study Program, but is designed to assist international students in finding employment while attending the GSD. This award is paid out in the form of paychecks as the student works.
The Application Process
1. Please be sure to check the employment restrictions based on your VISA
status.
For most students, 20 hours is the weekly limit,
but you should review the
information sent to you from the Harvard International
Office (HIO), or visit their
website at http://www.hio.harvard.edu/.
2. Complete and submit the application, which will be availabe in late August.
You may submit a paper copy to Student Services, Gund 422, or email it to one of the contacts listed below.
3. Those who are awarded will be notified by email.
4. If you are awarded, you may then look for employment within the GSD,
and can
be considered for most jobs, even those that list
“Work-study preferred.”
5. Once you find a job, come to the Financial Aid Office in Gund 422.
At that
time, we will give you your official letter
and make a note of the office where
you will be working.
6. Take your letter back to your supervisor (or their payroll coordinator)
and
complete additional payroll forms.
Eligibility and Restrictions
Students with financial need are given first preference. We will award
as many students as the fund allows. This award can only be used by currently
