Eric Howeler

Eric Howeler was born in Cali, Colombia and received his degrees, Bachelor of Architecture and a Masters of Architecture, from Cornell University. He is a principal of Howeler + Yoon Architecture. HYA is a multidisciplinary practice working between architecture, art and media. They were recently awarded the "Emerging Voices Award" from the Architectural League of New York as well as the "Design Vanguard Award" from Architectural Record. Current projects include an 8500 square foot mixed-use building in Southeast Washington DC and an interactive public installation in Washington DC. Prior to forming HYA, Eric was a Senior Designer at Diller + Scofidio, and an Associate Principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. He is a registered architect in state of New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. He has taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is author of Skyscraper: Vertical Now, published by Rizzoli/Universe Publishers in 2003 and a project editor of Praxis Magazine.
