Richard W. Jennings, FAIA is a Lecturer and Research Associate at the GSD and also advises and counsels architectural and engineering firms. With more than 30 years of professional experience in the design and construction of both large-scale commercial projects and smaller, unique projects for such clients as Hines Interests, ExxonMobil, and The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Jennings documented one of the earliest integrated approaches to project delivery and authored the construction management section of the Encyclopedia of Architecture: Design, Engineering & Construction. He was co-founder, president and CEO of Sikes Jennings Kelly & Brewer, a nationally-operating architectural and planning firm. Previously, he was a Principal and Division Director of the 700-person firm of 3D/International (Parsons 3D/I), a Houston-based global architecture, engineering and construction management firm where he also served as managing director of several of its offices. Jennings taught Professional Practice at the Rice University School of Architecture for a number of years. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Jennings holds the National Council of Architectural Boards (NCARB) certificate and is registered to practice architecture in multiple states. He holds a Doctor of Design (DDes) degree and a Master of Design Studies (MDesS) with Distinction degree in Real Estate and Project Management, both from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. His doctoral research addressed the transformation and integration of design services and the development of a new delivery process. He also holds Master of Architecture (MArch) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees.
