Fernando de Mello Franco studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sao Paulo where he received his PHD on Architecture Design in 2005. He is currently a professor at Sao Judas Tadeu University. He co-founded MMBB Architects in 1990, working together with Marta Moreira, Milton Braga and Angelo Bucci (1995-2002). Also collaborates with Architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha since 1996. The wide range of projects he has worked on most notably include public and institutional projects with an urban scope. The focus of his investigations is on urban mobility systems and water resources management, aiming to impart architectural value to the infrastructural interventions. Those researches resulted on the "Best Entry Award" at the Rotterdam International Biennale in 2007 with "Watery Voids" project, and the invitation for participating as a Member of the Deutsch Bank Award Jury at Urban Age Sao Paulo in 2008. He has co-authored the exhibition "Sao Paulo: networks and places" at Venice Biennale in 2006 and also the travelling exhibition "Coletivo: Contemporary Architecture from Sao Paulo."
