Emily Waugh
Lecturer in Landscape Architecture
Department of Landscape Architecture
Emily Waugh is joining the first year core MLA1 program as a lecturer in landscape architecture. She was previously a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto, where she co-taught a design studio devoted to the study of large-scale operative landscapes and their viability as public spaces, as well as a seminar on effective design communication. Emily's work in design communication forms the basis for her ongoing research into the changing role of communication in the field of landscape architecture. Emily has an independent practice that is positioned at the intersection of landscape, architecture, and contemporary culture. Within this broad context, Emily focuses on writing, editing, curating, research, design, and communication and has collaborated with a range of clients including Winy Maas and The Why Factory at TU Delft, UN Studio, The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto, Aflatoun Amsterdam, and recording artist Kate Maki. Prior to establishing her own practice, Emily worked in the studios of Morphosis Architects and Bruce Mau Design. Emily holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
