Eelco Hooftman - founding partner with Bridget Baines of GROSS. MAX. Landscape Architects integrates theory and practice of landscape architecture in an extensive output of (international) projects and award winning competition designs. Current projects include a Master Plan for Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, a 120 hectare Buddhist garden conplex in the periphery of Tokyo and a park design for a former water works as part of Emsher Art 2010, Germany. Eelco is advisory board member of Architecture + Design Scotland and member of the national jury of the Civic Trust Awards. Between 1990 - 2008 Eelco has been teaching at the School of Landscape Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and was co-founder of an innovative post graduate program Art, Space and Nature. Eelco has been lecturing in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Austria, Japan and the USA and has been a regular visiting critic / external examiner at ETH Zurich, AA London, Academie van Bouwkunst Amsterdam and AHO Oslo. GROSS. MAX. has been awarded the European landscape Award 2006 by Topos Magazine. Collaborations include Zaha Hadid Architects, David Chipperfield, Amanda Levete Architects and Norman Fosters + Partners as well planting designer Piet Oudolf and artist Mark Dion.
