MLA I AP Proseminar

Prerequisites: Enrollment in the MLA I AP program. This course provides an introduction to critical discourse in contemporary design practice concerning landscape systems and the interrelationship between natural systems and designed interventions in the built environment. Through inquiries based upon class readings and discussion, analysis of landscape architectural projects, field trips, and presentations given by the faculty of the Department of Landscape Architecture and visitors, the course seeks to expand the student\'s understanding of the cultural context that informs the production of landscape architecture and shapes it as a professional discipline. Development of attitudes toward natural systems, site, and program in a range of designed landscape forms will be examined.
