VERTICAL SCAPES. (Verticalism and the integration of disciplines)

Please note, this option studio will meet on an irregular schedule. (see below)The course will focus on solving the problems generated by the absence of disciplinar integration in the Europe\’s biggest urban plan, Madrid\’s Chamartin Plan, currently on provisional approval, understood as a paradigmatic case-study where limits of traditional city approaches are detected easily. The course will insist on the opportunity of developing hybrid methodological instruments which simultaneous attention to the emerging prototypologies, to the entropic landscapes and the energy resources management will permit proposing singular, feasible and renewed alternatives on the more critical areas of the plan. The project, instead of attending the whole area, will locate opportunities, will revise the original assumptions, will build its own instruments and will propose new built entities capable at the same time to attend these contingent data of the case study, will achieve an abstract and universal dimension, as thinking prototypes which refuse assuming inherited routines.Open to Architecture and Urban Design Students. An Exhibition with studio works is scheduled in Madrid.ScheduleInaki Abalos at the GSD:January 22,25, 26February 10, 11, 15, 16March 4, 5, 8, 9 April 7, 8, 12, 13 May 26, 27 Note, the required days of attendance are Mondays and Tuesdays.
