Kenneth T. Jackson, Ph.D., Jacques Barzun Professor of History and the Social Sciences at Columbia University, will discuss the use of historic preservation districts as a form of civic-supported exclusion in Manhattan. His works include The Ku Klux Klan in the City, 1915–1930, Cities in American History, Crabgrass Frontier: The Suburbanization of the United States, and The Encyclopedia of New York City (editor-in-chief). Professor Jackson also serves as Director of the Herbert H. Lehman Center for the Study of American History.
