Exhibition Opening for “Contrast and Continuity,” with Christian Kerez

Christian Kerez (Architect, Zürich) will discuss the exhibition of his work with Preston Scott Cohen, Gerald M. McCue Professor of Architecture and Chair of the Architecture Department. A reception will follow in the gallery.
Contrast and Continuity features a range of projects by Christian Kerez. From residential housing to corporate headquarters to a museum—set in Swiss suburbs and in Warsaw, São Paulo, and Zhengzhou—these projects differ conceptually. In each one, the rigor of structural systems serves as a point of departure for the definition of architectural space. Though they are made of common architectural elements, these are brought together in unexpected ways. Workshop models, descriptive booklets and films—including animations and handheld movies— bring these projects to life. Christian Kerez is the 2012–2013 Kenzo Tange Visiting Chair in Architecture and Urban Design.
