Teju Cole, “The City as Palimpsest”

Teju Cole is a writer, photographer, and art historian based in Lagos and Brooklyn. He is author of a novella, Every Day is for the Thief, and a novel, Open City, which won numerous awards, including the PEN/Hemingway Award, the New York City Book Award for Fiction, and the Rosenthal Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is author of the Twitter project “Small Fates.” An avid street photographer, he is currently at work on a non-fiction narrative of Lagos.
