Cruz Y Ortiz   1 2 3 4

April 17, May 21, 2002

Cruz and Ortiz, although do not have the issue of architectural language as a focal point of their discourse, use architectural languages that emphasize the constructional aspects of their projects, allowing the communicative power of architecture as a synthetic form to prevail. The materials that they handle with care and subtlety have a dominating presence in the atmosphere that they generate. Their work explores the limits of the discipline as they are willing to run the risk of admitting unfamiliar architectural forms if these are demanded by the synthetic vision of the job and its problems.

Antonio Cruz and Antonio Ortiz were the Spring 2002 Kenzo Tange Visiting Design Critics
