Event Description

Since 1991, designer Konstantin Grcic (based in Munich and Berlin) has developed furniture, products and lighting for some of the leading companies in the design field. Each of his products is characterized by a careful research into the history of design and architecture and his passion for technology and materials. Most recently he has curated a number of significant design exhibitions such as DESIGN-REAL (The Serpentine Gallery, London) and BLAC K2 (Istituto Svizzero, Rome). In 2012 he was responsible for the exhibition design of the German Pavillon at the 13th Architecture Biennale in Venice as well as a complete furniture program for Herzog & de Meuron’s New Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, Long Island. Grcic’s talk will reflect on the specific relationship between his industrial design work and the architectural context. Part of Dean Mohsen Mostafavi’s Harvard GSD Conference on Design Series.
