GIS Software Documentation

Handling and analyzing geographic data involves a lot of techniques that are not part of our everyday experience. No matter how elegantly a software interface may be, no user will be able to get by without consulting the technical documentation. Thankfully, software vendors have begun to publish their documentation electronically so that you can find it and refer to it when you need to.

Here is a list of links to the most popular manuals for ArcGIS software that we use here at the GSD. These manuals are provided to the Harvard community by the Harvard Center for Geographic Analysis.

To access the manuals :

  1. go to www.gis.harvard.edu
  2. Log in by clicking the login link at the top right of the page.
  3. Click CGA Services and then the Technical Support link under the title bar.
  4. Scroll down to find links to the pdf manuals at the bottom left of the page
