Building Services: Keys
To ensure the security of the school, Building Services keeps close track of each key by maintaining an electronic database of our keyholders. Please follow the following procedures so that we can continue to have all the necessary information to keep the school safe.
To Request and Receive a Key
If you are a student or faculty member, please see the staff assistant in your academic department in charge of ordering keys.
Those in charge of ordering keys may fill out the online Key Request form ( HUID/PIN required.)
Once the online request form has been received, the department administrator will be sent a key request form by interoffice mail within 2 business days. The administrator should make sure to fill out all information requested on the top of the form (with the exception of "Distribution approval"). All Key Request forms must include the signature of the department administrator, as well as the keyholder's signature. If a student is requesting a key, additional information will be needed.
Return the completed form to Deborah Grohe in office L30 the Building Services Department.
You should receive the key within three to five business days after the completed form arrives in Building Services.
To Return a Key
Please return your key directly to either Deborah Grohe or Trevor O'Brien in Building Services.
Never switch keys. If a keyholder will be returning her/his key and someone else in the department needs the key, please follow the protocol for both returning keys and requesting new keys. Never hand over a key to someone without following the above procedures.
Until a key has been properly returned to Building Services, the key holder is considered responsible for the key.
