Information For New Students
New students will have their HUIDs (Harvard University identification numbers) emailed to them approximately one week after accepting their offers of admission. The email will also explain the process for acquiring a Harvard PIN. Through the use of the HUID and PIN, students have access to a variety of secure, Harvard web sites that allow for a smooth transition to life at the GSD. If you do not receive an email by May 15, please call the Office of the Registrar at 617-495-5454.
All new students should upload a photo image of themselves prior to arriving on campus, no later than July 14. Please read the instructions, and then visit the image upload web site. You will need to use your Harvard University identification (HUID) number and related PIN in order to access this site (see the above paragraph concerning your HUID and PIN).
For incoming international students: International Student Orientation will take place on Monday, August 25, with sessions to introduce you to the Design School and to living in the U.S. It's also an opportunity to meet other foreign students before becoming immersed in your studies. Please remember to first check in at the Harvard International Office (HIO) upon arriving on campus. Failure to do so will result in a hold on your ability to add and drop courses when the semester begins.
A reminder to all incoming students: Please resolve all conditions to your admission before orientation. Official copies of transcripts, test scores, grade reports, and any other required documentation must be received in the Admissions Office before orientation and registration in order to be cleared to add and drop courses. You must also be sure to send your immunization records to Harvard's Medical Records Office (617-495-2055) at Harvard Univesity Health Services.
