Maintaining Your GSD PC at Home
While you are plugged into the design network at the GSD, your computer is automatically maintained. If you away for a couple of weeks, you must perform the maintenance yourself.
These are critical updates that must be checked for and applied to your computer while you are away from school at least EVERY OTHER WEEK.
Update Your Virus Definitions
The easiest way to run LiveUpdate is from within your Symantec program.
-
On the Windows desktop, click the Start button > All Programs > Symantec Client Security > Symantec AntiVirus Client.
-
When the program opens, click the LiveUpdate button.
-
Follow the prompts, and download all available updates. If the download includes program updates, you may be asked to restart your computer.
-
After doing so, run LiveUpdate again until you see the message that all programs are updated.
This information is from Symantec's Website. For more information on setting up and configuring LiveUpdate, visit Symantec's Website.
