Student Email

During the summer, incoming students are given an email address in the form of jdoe@gsd.harvard.edu. This address is yours for as long as you are affiliated with the school in the capacity of student or faculty.

Your GSD email address is a redirect and you control where the mail, which is sent to this address, is routed to. You can either keep the mailbox you are currently using, or contact the GSD Help Desk to have it changed.

If you do not have a mailbox for your GSD email to be routed to we can create a gmail account for you. This gmail account will have a standard naming convention in the form of “abc123” (where ‘abc’ represents your initials and ‘123’ is a random numerical value). The Harvard issued gmail account will have a special web address in the form of http://start.mail.harvard.edu

All gmail accounts have settings that allow you to send email with your @gsd.harvard.edu identity. Other mail services may have similar options. For instructions on how to do this see gmail’s help section for “Adding a custom From address” (the URL is below). http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=22370
