Headings
For most purposes, you can use the defaults we've defined for headings, using the Format menu. To make a heading out of some text, highlight it, and choose a selection from the Format menu in Dreamweaver's Properties box that is always below your page view. For example, choose "Heading 1" for the title at the top of the page.
Most pages won't need anything but normal text and heading text. If that's all you do, you can stop here. The next section is for other special styles you might want to use.
Alternate Heading Style
If you prefer not to use blue headings, orange headings have also been approved for use on the GSD site. To use this heading style, choose heading in the format menu as above, but then while the heading is still highlighted, choose alt in the Style menu directly to the right of the Format menu in the Properties box (see picture above). Your heading will become orange.
Special Text Styles
For these, there is no need to change the Format menu. You can leave that set to paragraph and instead highlight the text and change the Style menu directly to the right of it in the properties box.
- For photo captions, copyright notices, or other asides, you can use the caption style.
- For notices, or to make asterisks * stand out, you can use the alert style.
Special Image Classes
To align an image to the right of text, insert the image before the text you'd like it to appear next to, then highlight it and apply the right or topright class. The proper spacing will automatically be applied.
To align an image to the left, use the left or topleft class.
Do not use Dreamweaver Font/Size/Color tags
Make sure you use our approved styles to add fonts and colors to your text. Please do not use the fields indicated below in Dreamweaver's Properties bar.
