Gabriel Smith of Eskew + Dumez + Ripple Architects has just completed work on the new University Art Museum at the University of Louisiana Lafayette.

The 33,000 square foot state of the art museum contains the largest free span gallery space in Louisiana, fully conditioned loading areas, offices and archival storage for the University's permanent collection.

The Museum will open its doors to the public open on April 21, 2004. The first year's exhibitions will include works by the painter Andrew Wyeth, Sculptor Deborah Butterfield and a show of Picasso Ceramics among others.
