ECOLOGICAL PREFERENCE:

Scattered individuals occur in moist, rich soil. Prefers minimally maintained public parks and open space; abandoned grasslands (meadows); freshwater wetlands, ponds and streams.

ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTION:

Salt tolerance along roadways; food and/or habitat for wildlife.

CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE:

This is an important forage and pasture grass.
