Selected findings from the 2007 DesignIntelligence ® Survey of America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools

Harvard University Graduate School of Design Department of Architecture ranks Number One nationally and in the U.S. Eastern Region for the fifth successive year.

Harvard GSD Department of Landscape Architecture ranks Number One nationally and in the U.S. Eastern Region for third successive year.

Harvard GSD Department of Architecture named “most admired” design program in architecture by academicians.

The following standards at Harvard University GSD Department of Architecture were named by deans, department chairs and other academicians at the nation’s schools of design:

  • Great faculty—setting the bar with regard to theory and critical thinking in Architecture and Urban Design; ability to support diverse schools of thought
  • Exceptional resources; strong ties with current conceptual trends in the discipline
  • Clear leadership in developing innovative academic depth
  • Breadth of world view
  • Design valued within a rigorous curriculum leading to practice

Harvard GSD Departments of Architecture and Landscape Architecture rank Number One in Skills Assessment of Recent Graduates

Recent graduates from the Department of Architecture rank Number One in their preparedness for entering the architectural profession according to the nation’s leading architectural firms. Design skills that were assessed include design, research and theory, communications skills and analysis and planning.

Recent graduates from the Department of Landscape Architecture rank Number One in their professional preparedness in design, research and theory and computer applications.

 

Harvard GSD Professor Named Educator of the Year

Alex Krieger, Professor in Practice of Urban Design at the GSD, was named one of seven Architecture Educators of the Year nationwide.
