Carson Chan Curates Arts in Marrakech Biennale

The 4th Edition of Arts in Marrakech (AiM) Biennale, titled Higher Atlas and curated by Carson Chan (MDesS '05) and Nadim Samman, opened on February 29 and will run through June 3. Located throughout the former Imperial City–the half-finished Théâtre Royal and its oversized courtyard being the main venue–the exhibition features immersive installations by international artists and architects.

First held in Nov 2005, the AiM Biennale is the first major trilingual (English, Arabic and French) festival in North Africa focusing on cutting-edge contemporary art, literature and film. The Biennale seeks to promote the status of the artist and contemporary culture in North Africa.

Prior to completing his MDesS in History and Philosophy of Design in 2005, he studied Architecture at Cornell University. He founded PROGRAM with Fotini Lazaridou-Hatzigoga (MDesS '06) in 2006, a non-commercial project space in Berlin aimed at expanding the disciplinary boundaries of architecture through collaborations with other fields. Additionally, he is the Editor-at-Large of Berlin-based 032c Magazine and a Contributing Editor for Kaleidoscope Magazine, Milan.
