Hashim Sarkis (Aga Khan professor of landscape architecture and urbanism in Muslim societies) hopes Beirut can learn from the experience of other cities in mediating between modernization and historic preservation for the city’s decision about constructing the Fouad Boutros Bridge in Ashrafieh.
