Xiaoxuan Lu (MLA ’12 and senior landscape researcher, GSD Center for Technology and Environment) details her “beautiful and clever strategy” for cleaning up the bomb-scarred landscape of Laos and mitigating the effects of gold mining in an interview in Co.Exist.  Her project “Mining/Demining” won a 2012 ASLA Award of Excellence. Xiaowei Wang (MLA ’13) has created a public art event that’s also a pollution monitoring project for notoriously smog-ridden Beijing. Wang took advantage of the tradition and beauty of kite flying in China to enlist kite enthusiasts in mapping air quality.
