Toshiko Mori, Syracuse Center for ExcellenceThe firm of Toshiko Mori, Chair of the Department of Architecture, awarded a 2008 Project Honor Award by the AIA New York Chapter for the Syracuse Center of Excellence

Toshiko Mori Architect was awarded a 2008 Project Honor Award by the AIA New York Chapter for the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Energy and Environmental Systems in Syracuse, New York. The new headquarters building will provide laboratory, classroom, and office space for a federation of institutes and corporations that promote energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. Located on a contaminated site in downtown Syracuse, the building anchors the corridor connecting the city center and the Syracuse University campus. Considered a “living lab,” the facility incorporates cutting-edge technology for energy efficiency, embodying its sustainable mission. The project team includes Hargreaves Associates, the firm of George Hargreaves, the Peter Louis Hornbeck Professor in Practice of Landscape Architecture, as landscape architect and Transsolar KlimaEngineering, the firm of Matthias Schuler, Lecturer in Architecture, as climate engineers. The Design Awards Exhibition will open May 1st at the AIA Center of Architecture in New York City.
