Peter Christensen (PhD '14) publishes, Architecturalized Asia: Mapping a Continent Through History which is co-edited with Vimalin Rujivacharakul, Hazel Hahn and Ken Oshima. The book is co-published by Hong Kong University Press and the University of Hawaii Press, and includes an essay by Peter entitled, "The Eurasian Hour: Ratzel, Mackinder and the Architecture of Geopolitical Identity" as well as an essay by Seng Kuan (PhD '10) entitled, "Land as an Architectural Idea in Modern Japan." The volume evaluates, "Asia" as a discursive structure and cultural construct, whose spatial and ideological formation can be examined through the lenses of cartography, built environments and visual narratives from the medieval period to modern times.
