Sanford Kwinter wins Arts and Letters Award in ArchitectureApr 24, 2013
Last week the American Academy of Arts and Letters announced the recipients of its 2013 architecture awards. Sanford Kwinter (professor of architectural theory and criticism and co-director, master in design studies program) is being recognized for contributing to “ideas in architecture through any medium of expression.”
"With his erudite and passionate texts on architecture, Sanford Kwinter has become one of the most important critics of our time," said selection committee member Steven Holl. "His ability to assimilate developments in architecture, art, and science today is astonishing. He is a uniquely talented and highly intelligent theorist who raises architecture to a new level of thought."
Holl was joined on the selection committee by Henry Cobb (MArch '49 and former chair of the department of architecture) and Billie Tsien and Tod Williams (Senior Loeb Scholars).
