The Center for Outdoor Living Design (COLD) at Kent State University has selected work by Wendy Wang (MLA '14) and Natalya Egon (MArch '12) among three winning designs in the "Coldscapes: New Visions for Cold Weather Cities" competition.

Wang and partner Ryan Ort's submission, "POLAR77," proposes a sustainable, cold-friendly space using shipping containers "which can be recycled from the globally located seaports and native plants which will contextualize each space to each individual location."

Egon and partner Noel Turgeon's submission, "Second Hinterlands," proposes a shift in snow collection and clearing practices following a winter storm. Instead of the immediate clearing of city streets, "Second Hinterlands" identifies a portion of the city that is transformed via lack of snow removal and strategic snow relocation.
