Chris Matthews, Lecturer in Landscape Architecture

Chris Matthews teaches courses in plants in design. Chris is a Senior Associate and design leader in the Cambridge Office of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates with over 18 years of experience in the practice of Landscape Architecture in London, Tokyo, and Cambridge. Chris creates landscapes that explore history, infrastructure, ecology, and contemporary program to create, memorable and transformative places. Chris’ recent projects include: advising the Olympic Park Legacy Company on the transformation of the 2012 Olympic Games site into a vibrant and sustainable amenity for East London, working with the Olympic Delivery Authority for the Broxbourne White Water Centre, and Harvard University’s Common Spaces Master Plan.

Originally from England, Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture with honors from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He received a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design in 2001.
