Florencia Rodriguez is an architect and critic as well as founder and editorial director of Piedra, Papel y Tijera publishers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her editorial work is complemented by other development and dissemination activities aimed at triggering cultural “agitation” to provoke and inspire a collective evolution of the discipline.
In 2010 Rodriguez created the publication PLOT, a platform committed to the dissemination of practices and critical thinking about contemporary architecture. One of its main aims is to integrate Latin-American architecture within global debates and production, and to promote the active role of criticism and theory in the transformation of our built environment. With the same intention, she has previously curated symposia and exhibitions such as “hEX, Arquitectura Argentina Contemporánea” (2007), “Nunca Fuimos Eternos” (2008) and “Post Post Post” (2009/11); collaborated in the Buenos Aires Biennale (since 2007); and coordinated the program of Centro de Estudios de Arquitectura Contemporánea of the Torcuato Di Tella School of Architecture (2009, 2010) among other activities.
While at the GSD Rodriguez will explore the roles of theory and criticism today and in the future, and research new vehicles for their expression beyond the written word. She will also work on a South/North network to expose common and uncommon grounds for mutual learning.
