Jonathan A. Scelsa is Instructor in the Department of Architecture and teaches in the advanced studio option and elective sequence with Farshid Moussavi. Prior to his appointment at the GSD, Scelsa has taught in Northeastern University's Graduate Architecture Studio as an Adjunct Lecturer as well as in Harvard's Career Discovery Sequence as an Instructor. ?

Scelsa's individual research investigates the formal and typological shifts architects devise in response to the external large scale pressures of regional systems and global sameness. His thesis work focused on strategies of utilizing regional infrastructural systems to organize and inform new architectural types in the future development of the city. ?

In addition to his academic pursuits, Scelsa has worked for the architectural offices of Hashim Sarkis Studios, Foreign Office Architects, Smith-Miller + Hawkinson and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard University. ?
