Michael Maltzan is the founder and design principal of Los Angeles-based Michael Maltzan Architecture, Inc., an architectural, urban, and landscape design practice founded in 1995. His work creates physical, cultural, and social catalysts across a range of scales and project types.  His interest in architecture and its role in urbanism are reflected in both his design work as well as numerous authored publications including No More Play: Conversations on Urban Speculation in Los Angeles and Beyond, that investigates potential future cities through a series of conversations with contemporary architects, designers, theorists, and artists.

Michael received a Master of Architecture degree with a Letter of Distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.  He holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design.  He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a GSA Design Excellence Program Peer and a member of the Places Journal Board of Directors.
