Ramiro Almeida was appointed visiting scholar at MIT Media Lab in June 2013, where his research and academic work is situated at the intersection of cities, social transformation, innovation, technology, entrepreneurship and public policy.
His current project focusses on the design of autonomous light electric vehicle deployment platforms and user experience solutions for specialized mobility markets in the US.
At the GSD Almeida deepened his knowledge of urban studies and infrastructure, edited A Line in the Andes and explored the nexus of entrepreneurship and technology as a resident at the the Harvard Innovation Lab.
In the past he was senior advisor for special projects and foreign affairs to the City of Quito, Ecuador. He has had a distinguished career on a wide variety of planning, entrepreneurial and cultural activities that have improved the quality of life in his home city. His credits as a publisher, editor and filmmaker include the award winning film Pescador.
