Toni L. Griffin, AIA, is an Associate Partner with the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. Since joining the firm in 1986, she has been involved in architectural, master planning and urban design projects including commercial and office development in London; conceptual designs for Burnham Park and the Lake Shore Drive Relocation associated with the McCormick Place Expansion Project; an affordable housing project for Uptown Habitat for Humanity; a playground redevelopment project for Brown Elementary School; a new community master plan for the Glenview Naval Air Station Redevelopment Project; and the renovation of State Street in downtown Chicago.

In 1993, Ms. Griffin was instrumental in establishing a development concept for the Grand Boulevard Community, one of Chicago's premier historic ethnic neighborhoods. As the primary architect and urban designer, Ms. Griffin worked with the local community development commission and area business leaders in efforts to appropriate state funding for redevelopment
and planning projects. Ms. Griffin continues to consult within the community and has facilitated several planning charettes which have led to the acquisition and redevelopment of one of the neighborhood's landmark buildings.

Ms. Griffin's interest and experience in urban planning has lead her to serve on the Board of Directors of several non-profit civic and volunteer organizations, including President of Women in Planning & Development; Friends of Downtown; and the Young Urban Preservationist Society.

As a Loeb Fellow, Ms. Griffin explored methods of using cultural, heritage and historic preservation to create economic and community development in urban ethnic neighborhoods.
