Leonard E. Mc Gee has been characterized as a community advocate, leader, and ombudsman. In his neighborhood on the near south side of Chicago, known locally as "The Gap", Mr. Mc Gee has forged relationships that improve the quality of living for residents, businesses, and government alike. He has worked for over twelve years with others to negotiate a renaissance of an inner city neighborhood that has now become the cornerstone of redevelopment for an overall area called Bronzeville. Mr. Mc Gee's volunteer activities include development of the Calumet, Giles Prairie Historical District, over 25 million dollars in housing development, a 10 million dollar, 1.2 mile community project to create a Walk of Fame from Mc Commick Place Expansion into the community along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and institutional reinvestment totaling over 25 million. Mr. Mc Gee is currently a Manager of System Development for Cermak Health Services for Cook County, a television director for Saving Grace Ministries at The Apostolic Church of God, and a business consultant. As a Loeb Follow, Mr. Mc Gee explored urban planning, leadership development, and grasping a greater understanding of how to use media successfully in transforming inner city communities.
