Rob Bleiberg is the Executive Director of the Mesa Land Trust (MLT), a conservation organization devoted to preserving western Colorado’s incomparable natural lands for social, economic, and ecological purposes. During Rob’s 13-year tenure, MLT has established itself as a leading community-based conservation organization in the western United States. Through more than 125 conservation agreements with private property owners, MLT protects more than 53,000 acres of land. Under Rob’s leadership, Mesa Land Trust has established innovative collaborations to advance conservation and other community goals. The Community Separator Project, a partnership between MLT, three municipalities, and Mesa County, conserves open lands between growing cities, thereby maintaining community identity and quality of life. Partnerships with The Nature Conservancy and the Colorado Division of Wildlife extend resources and preserve threatened wildlife habitat. Working with local fruit growers, Mesa Land Trust is preserving a critical mass of unique farmland that supports the largest horticultural industry in the Rocky Mountain West. As a Loeb Fellow, Rob plans to pursue his interests in organizational, community and environmental sustainability. He will build skills and understanding of organizational strategy & management, leadership, as well as real estate finance and development.
