Alumni News
Cathy Crenshaw, LF '07, appeared recently on Blueprint America for the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer
A recent report on Blueprint America for the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer hones in on a specific six-lane interstate highway projected for Jefferson County’s Northern Beltline, encircling Birmingham, Alabama. The highway, which is slated for completion in 2025, is receiving criticism from locals. Cathy, a Birmingham real estate developer, imagines how a project like the ADHS could be reevaluated to actually meet the public demand. “It would be pretty wonderful if we could shift some of these dollars for larger projects back into cities. The question is, how do we build neighborhoods that we want to live in and want to walk around in and know people? That requires investment. So, I would much rather, personally, see investment in public transportation, which is much less expensive than a new highway system.”

Rick was chosen from an international pool of nominees for his accomplishments as founder and director of Project Row Houses in Houston and his work in New Orleans and Los Angeles. The award will be presented to Rick at the first joint conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and National Council of Arts Administrators on November 5, 2009 in St. Louis.

Seeking Hosts for Outreach Events
Update on Outreach Activities:
The strength of our Fellowship is a product of the excellence and the diversity of our Fellows. In order to select a great class each year and welcome ten new Fellows into our rich network of colleagues, we must have an exceptional pool of candidates. We will only have such a pool if the Fellowship is known broadly throughout the professions for which we are a resource. And you are the key to this. Nearly 60% of all candidates for the Fellowship first heard about the program from a Loeb alumni/ae.
You can be helpful in a number of ways. For more information on general Loeb outreach and diversity outreach and to find out how Loeb alumni/ae can help, click here.
If you have questions or suggestions about how to increase the size, quality and diversity of our applicant pool, please call Jim (617-495-5988) or Sally (617-495-9345) or e-mail either of us (stockard@gsd.harvard.edu or syoung@gsd.harvard.edu).
Thank you for your help.
