In[Fresh]Structure: Floating Transshipment Hub

by Tiffany Chen (MArch ’15))

This project positions a floating transshipment hub in the Caribbean Basin as a new form of port infrastructure. As a region dependent on the export of fresh food and agricultural products, the countries surrounding the Caribbean basin rely on external regions such as the Port of Miami to consolidate cargos for international trade. With the expansion of the Panama Canal and the expected increase of container traffic, this project aims to facilitate direct ship-to-ship cargo transfer in a timely and cost efficient manner with the use of a deployable transshipment hub.
