Project Framework |

Much of our initial understanding about Monroe County came from published reports about the area. These included Township and County planning documents, tourism pamphlets, and nature guidebooks. It quickly became clear that any important decision concerning the future of Monroe County would involve a wide range of issues and decision criteria. |
These can be summarized as the interaction between future urbanization and: the Geologic Landscape, the Biologic Landscape, the Visual Landscape, Demographics, Economics, and Politics. The study, therefore, focused on these issues, which shape landscape planning decisions in Monroe County. The framework which was used to organize the study is shown below (after Steinitz, C. Landscape Journal, 1990). |
